AkzoNobel introduces new UV Putty for more efficient spot-size vehicle repairs

UV Putty from AkzoNobel

AkzoNobel’s new UV Putty is the latest addition to our UV product portfolio for vehicle refinish customers. Available in two textures: fine and coarse, its fast curing time will allow bodyshops to carry out spot-size repairs with speed and efficiency – filling the smallest pinholes and scratches or minor dents and stone chips in under two minutes.

UV products are gaining popularity in the vehicle refinishes industry due to their fast curing times, energy efficiency and lower emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - all key considerations in achieving more sustainable repair processes, without compromising on quality.

Developed with this widely used UV technology in mind, our new UV Putty can be cured in under two minutes with a UV-A lamp, contributing to a reduction in energy costs and emissions for bodyshops, maximising productivity and profit while offering a more sustainable solution.

The UV Putty can be applied to various substrates like existing finishes, steel, aluminium and most common plastics used in vehicle refinishes.

Supplied in a convenient one-component tube, wastage is minimal and dosing is simple. It can be easily applied with a putty knife and is ready for further sanding and processing immediately after curing.

Rob Lagendijk, Commercial Marketing and Product Management Director for AkzoNobel’s Automotive and Specialty Coatings business says, “AkzoNobel’s key focus on sustainability has led to innovations in its vehicle refinishes portfolio. We have an expanding UV product range, including our new UV Putty, which is helping our sustainability-focused bodyshop customers reduce their energy consumption and lower emissions of VOCs.

“The UV Putty is approved for use in combination with AkzoNobel UV Fillers and premium refinishes brands, Sikkens and Lesonal.”

Launching in selected markets, bodyshops looking to add greater speed and efficiency to their processes can now benefit from AkzoNobel’s new UV Putty, perfect for achieving a premium appearance with spot-sized repairs.
